Richard Robot in LondonLast country! Time to hit the O2 in London! I almost can’t believe that the tour is almost over. It feels like yesterday that we started in Lisbon (and simultaneously aeons ago). In a surprise move, my dad decided he would fly out to the UK to catch the last two shows!

We rolled into London Town very late after departing Scotland right after the show. The cab ride alone was over a hundred bucks. I forgot how expensive this place is!

I slept and met my dad the next morning in the hotel lobby for an overpriced, overcooked, and uninspired breakfast. I felt bad that my dad had this kind of welcome. His flight got in at like 6am, but he was surprisingly awake. He spent a good chunk of his life traveling so this is probably nothing new to him.

As the opening group we were often limited to how many free tickets we got, so I had to do a little work to get my dad into the venue. I actually ended up buying him a ticket just to be sure. We got him a good spot on the floor seats with my friend Ainslie. She had moved to London from Australia and decided to come to the show. After our sound check, Greg drove my dad to the venue and dropped him off out front. Tix exchanged, off I ran to the dressing room.

Richard’s Dad

On stage I kept looking for my dad and afterwards I realized I should have seen him easily. He was the guy in the back filming our show with his iPad (haha face palm, dad). I walked through the audience to talk to him and watch the Backstreet Boys. I never thought I’d find my dad and myself watching a boyband together!

After the show was crazy. We had a full line to get our autograph in the lobby of the O2, and we got some help from a few security guards. Finally we’d said hi to everybody and I got a picture with my dad. We got packed up then headed to the biggest after party yet. They had closed the doors by the time we got there so I had to make a few long distance calls to get us in.

Once there we had a great time. I even found a couple girls chatting up my dad after I went for a drink! Nice work, Pops!

We got to the hotel extremely late, ready for one more tomorrow.
