The Exchange Good Fight Album CoverChristmas in Hong Kong is not a bad way to spend a holiday. We flew out for a show and got to enjoy a great culture rolling with the influences of England. With Christmas trees and a skyline decorated for the season, it really felt like a drive through your neighborhood in the US. Such a big city felt cozy and excited, just like any kid waiting for Santa. I was lucky to share the time with Maria as we sang on Christmas Day, but we had to fly out that night.

Back at home the album was under way. We’d written, collectively, 30-50 songs. After a few listening parties we had narrowed down a few we wanted to produce. I took a short trip home to Denver and spent a few days visiting good friends and spending time at home. It was the first time I’d been home in over a year. The four days were soul food and bookended by a stay with my cousins, the Millers. They are some of the kindest and wisest people in the world, and my heart was set right. Finally back home I cleaned the house (note to self, don’t be the last one to move out) and got the chance to thank my dad, Kathy, Matthew, and Nicholas. Their support helped make the EP possible.

Just before flying to Germany, we were asked to open for the Backstreet Boys on their European tour. It’s something you have to take–a big break for a small, self-run band. We sadly had to cancel on Europa Park where we’d committed to perform in their Teatro Colosseo show for a couple months. They were still generous enough to help us get our tour started. We stayed in the dormant hotels and brought Tat Tong back to town to help record and produce the EP, “The Good Fight” in just a few days. We had mattresses up in the rooms and had all cylinders firing. Towards the end of the stay, we even got to see the Teatro Colosseo show and were blown away. Incredible show, incredible performers.

As the EP was finalized and mastered, we began choreographing the show with the direction of Katja. Her dancing and teaching acumen are far above our own, and we learned quickly. Our tech crew hit the road a day early and the rest of us are spending the day here preparing mentally and physically. This tour ahead of us is about to begin and our lives could change. It is an opportunity to grab and so many doors are around us. I cannot wait to get started!
