Lame audience shot-our normal photographer had to divert to Glasgow :/

Time for my favorite part of the trip! Dublin. The O2. Four days to see the city.

Due to some crazy tour scheduling, get to be in Dublin from March 31 through April 3. Our hotel is nestled right next to the famous Temple Bar and about a half mile from the Guinness factory.

The first day there, we got a quick run-through from the fast talking cab driver. We bantered bout who was Irish and who wasn’t, who shot the angel statue in the city center, and learned some Irish lingo (including, “Kiss my ass,” in Celtic and our favorite, “Sweet, Suffrin’ Jesus”). Then I hit the pavement and wandered out towards the water, through a park, and back along the waterways.

The next day we slept in a bit and made our way to the venue. With All Saints (yes the girl group from the 90s) opening as well, we had to cut our show by a song or two. Towards the end of the tour I suppose that’s a bit of a break, but I’d prefer to power through. I love to sing and it’s a shame to me to cut short opportunities to sing less (especially in places like the O2 here in Dublin). So we pushed a little over in our set.

All Saints proved to me that all you need is one big hit. Without pulling any punches, the crowd wasn’t feeling their show until their ’97 hit “Never Ever” came through the speakers. I’d like to think we worked our asses off to win the crowd over, stick our dance moves, and put on a hell of an entertaining show. All Saints seemed not to care. Some of the Backstreet Boys came to check out their set too, and seemed to feel the same way.

I could rant on, but this is the lot we signed up for.

Guinness Factory in Dublin, Ireland

The day after the show, Léo and I made tracks for the Guinness Factory. It was a little pricey to get in, but with 2 free beers at the end of the tour, it was like giving the bartender a big tip. We wandered into a church on the way back which offered us shelter from the all-too-common rain, then found our way home.

Home. Four days in a place and it feels like home. The travel is getting tough.

With only 3 more shows, we gathered in the Temple Bar to enjoy a beer as a group before heading to bed.
